My Bond Matrix
KG Newman
Somewhere, an accordion plays
as I sketch a doorway
and end in the wrong heaven again.
Clouds laugh. Golden guns jam.
God climbs back into
a cab. A wizard with a flyswatter
and a spool of red thread
stitches the emptiness shut.
With time audits behind us,
we’re recouping the dragonflies
and going to the movies again.
Pineapples on every counter.
Our son on my lap, driving my truck
through an empty lot as
birds lift off the blacktop
just in front of muddy tires
at the sunset of another mission
and he’ll never know I was
named after an ornithologist.
