Mood Lighting

Mood Lighting
“Mood Lighting” is a short series of illustrative portraits exploring the female face from different angles. Each portrait was created on Post-It Notes with fine-tip pens. By layering hatch marks in different ink colors, the figures are given texture and depth. The series explores how mood can be created through the use of shadow and color as much as through pose and expression. Much of my art focuses on feminine-presenting figures that depict the varying ways that beauty, strength, and vulnerability can manifest visually. In “Mood Lighting,” the goal was to elicit a strong sense of character within the constraints of size and limited tools.
