Morning Sounds
Dhwanee Goyal
Outside: the whoosh of a car horn.
Crows sing. Trot onward. A few
earthen pots, shattering. Shattered
stones and bleeding dogs. Our
clairvoyant hearts. Autumn’s newly
bleached trees, stacked on top of
each other. A bloodbath, the
curdled skies. The curdled lovers,
the siren song. Screeching forever.
